One simple healthy swap you can make today? Make your own salad dressing at home! Store bought dressings are often filled with not-so-nourishing oils (like canola, corn or soy) and though there ARE some good brands out there (our favorites are Primal Kitchen + Tessamae’s), it’s SO easy (and inexpensive) to make your own at home with simple ingredients.
This is my go-to easy salad dressing:
1/4 cup olive oil
2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
1 tbsp honey
1 heaping tbsp mayonnaise (I prefer avocado oil based)
1 tsp dijon mustard
pinch sea salt
1. Blend or whisk well. Keeps in the fridge for 3-4 days. Whisk again, adding more olive oil if needed, if it begins to separate.
make it honey-mustard: add 2 tsp dijon + more honey if desired
make it Italian style: replace apple cider vingear with balsamic. add 1 tsp italian seasoning + a small clove of garlic, minced.
This also happens to be the dressing I love to use on kale– massage it in and enjoy! Stay tuned for my favorite summer kale salad recipe, later this week.
Delicious and flavorful, so a little goes a long way. Ingredients are always in the house. It emulsified nicely in Ninja single serve blender. I liked mine in salad of organic iceberg, halved blackberries and dried cherries, chopped green onions and coarse chopped walnuts. 5 stars 🤩
