Trigger Warning: This podcast episode describes the process of pregnancy loss, both physiological and emotional in great detail and may not be appropriate for younger audiences and those who might find the subject matter triggering.Ten to fifteen of every 100 pregnancies results in loss, according to March of Dimes. Other statistics show it’s closer to 1 and 4. In the circles I am in- it’s closer to 1 in 2. Pregnancy loss is so common, and so incredibly devastating, and yet not talked about nearly enough.

I knew, in doing a series on Women’s Health, I didn’t want to shy away from the hard truths- that sometimes, pregnancy doesn’t go as planned. I want to honor every woman, every baby, even the ones we don’t carry in our arms, which is why I’m so honored my friend Alyssa Knapp offered to come on and share her real and raw experience with pregnancy loss, this past spring. Alyssa shares her experience and her truth so honestly, and with such vulnerability- sharing an experience so many women endure, and so little is truly shared about or supported. I hope through this episode you will feel supported in your own experience, or will feel encouraged to support other women in your life.

About Alyssa:Alyssa Knapp is the owner of Integrative Wellness RI and a Reiki Master Teacher. Over the past 13 years, Alyssa has done everything in the wellness field from personal training to managing large corporate wellness programs, and has now settled into her private practice to get back to her heart, which is working individually with clients, teaching classes, creating workshops, and collaborating with others in the field.

Alyssa has extensively studied individual and community health and wellness management, including health promotion strategies, program evaluation, worksite health, exercise physiology, human anatomy and physiology, health psychology, social psychology, behavior modification, psychological research, and mindfulness meditation. Her services are designed to combine the naturally healing effects of physical activity with the power of mindfulness, meditation, and energy healing.
