One of the easiest budget swaps I’ve ever made is making my own salad dressing at home. From honey mustard to an Italian vinaigrettes to this family-favorite blender ranch, homemade dressing is easy to make- and easy on the wallet when compared to most high-quality store-bought dressings. Plus- the flavor of homemade is SO much better than anything you can get on a shelf!

This simple homemade ranch is packed with great ingredients, and makes twice as much as you’d get in the store! I always use fresh chives- but feel free to use dried dill and parsley, and swap in greek yogurt in place of the sour cream or kefir for the buttermilk for a probiotic boost! It all comes together in 5 minutes (or less) in your blender.
Homemade Herb Blender Ranch
Makes about 2 cups
1 cup mayonnaise (I prefer avocado oil)
1/2 cup sour cream or greek yogurt
1/2 cup buttermilk or kefir
1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
2 tbsp chopped fresh chives
1 tbsp dried or 2 tbsp fresh chopped dill
1 tbsp dried or 2 tbsp fresh chopped parsley
1/2 tsp sea salt
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
- Combine all in a blender. Blend well, taste for seasoning and serve.
Note: Dressing will thicken as it is refrigerated, however if you want it thicker, add up to 1/2 cup more sour cream or greek yogurt.
